Over a week, 7 matches took place in the WBBL championship. The week began and ended with two very intense matches involving the recently victorious Kibirkstis. Nonetheless, the Vilnius club lost both of the significant matches.
On Tuesday, Kibirkstis' 6-game winning streak ended in Vilnius when the capital club lost to Klaipeda's Neptunas-Amberton 70:79. The game was evenly matched for the first three quarters, but the visitors pulled away in the fourth quarter (70:53).
Viktorija Balaban (31 points) and Brigita Sinickaite (18) were unstoppable for the Klaipeda team. Gabriela Sulske's 20 points and Dalia Donskichyte's 15 points were not enough for the Vilnius team.
Over the weekend, Kibirkstis played two matches in Riga. On Saturday, they defeated BJBS Riga 90:49 without a struggle, and on Sunday, they faced the champion TTT-Riga.
The rematch of last season's finalists lived up to expectations. Kibirkstis led 46:36 after two quarters and 57:54 after three quarters. However, in the final quarter, the Latvian champions played better in the closing minutes of the game and won 79:72.
Gabija Meskonyte (21 points), Vanesa Jasa (18), and Kyra Lambert (16) were the best players for the Riga team. This time, Egle Zabotkaite (18) and Donskichyte (17) were the most productive players for the Vilnius team.
TTT-Riga has won all 11 games of this season in the Baltic League.
After their victory in Vilnius, Neptunas-Amberton also traveled to Riga, where they defeated RSU 79:62.
LCC International University, Liepaja/LSSS, Siauliai-Vilmers, and Panevezys also won during the week.
LCC International University defeated Kaunas Aistės-LSMU 70:49 on the road, Liepaja/LSSS also celebrated a victory against Jurmala 57:46 at their opponents' court, Siauliai-Vilmers defeated Daugavpils Universitate 89:75 in Latvia, and Panevezys defeated Jurmala 66:51 at home.
The most impressive individual performance of the week was made by Šiauliai's team leader Cassidy Mihalko. The American scored 32 points (38 PIR).
