The 2024-2025 Biosil-WBBL Division B season tipped off with two exciting matchups.
In Kaunas, two league newcomers faced off in their first-ever game. The home team, Atletas, secured a convincing historic victory by defeating Akmenes Krastas 76-52.
Gerda Vitkeviciute led the way for the winners with 13 points, while Donata Petrenaite contributed a double-double of 10 points and 14 rebounds.
Agne Bironaite put up a valiant effort for Akmenes krastas with a double-double of her own, scoring 21 points and grabbing 15 rebounds. Liveta Novogreckyte added 20 points, but it wasn't enough to secure the win.
The second game was a thrilling contest between Daugavpils University and Panevezys. In a closely contested match, Daugavpils University emerged victorious with a 92-89 win in front of their home crowd.
Eliza Poisa, a newcomer to Daugavpils University, led the team with 24 points. Valerija Baranovska added 18 points, Tamirise Simonova had 16, Jelizaveta Naidjonova had 14, and Ksenija Petrova chipped in with 13.
Gabriele Sulske was unstoppable for Panevezys, scoring 30 points and grabbing 11 rebounds.
Urte Bukauskaite contributed 13 points, and Justina Oferovaite added 11. Agnese Garcinskaite recorded a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds, while Kriste Timofejeva (9 points, 12 rebounds) and Goda Vasurenkaite (8 points, 11 rebounds) were just shy of double-doubles.
Panevezys dominated the boards, outrebounding Daugavpils University 54-28. Despite committing 30 fouls to Panevezys' 17 and attempting only 9 free throws compared to Panevezys' 39, Daugavpils University managed to secure the victory.
