The Biosil-WBBL quarterfinals got underway on Wednesday with two matchups, as Kibirkstis Vilnius and Panevezys secured commanding victories.
In Division A action, regular season winners Kibirkstis Vilnius showed no signs of slowing down, dominating RSU Riga 98-44 on the road. Despite early RSU's efforts, Kibirkstis quickly asserted their dominance, leaving their opponents behind.
Daugile Use led Kibirkstis with 20 points and 9 rebounds in the Latvian capital, while Giedre Labuckiene added 18 points. Justina Miknaite contributed 11 points, and both Sintija Aukstikalnyte and Nia Clouden reached double figures with 10 points apiece.
For RSU, Sarlote Petersone (11 points) and Una Steinharde (10) were the leading scorers.
The two teams will face off again in Game 2 on March 29th in Vilnius. The team with the better aggregate score from the two games will advance to the Final Four.
In Division B, Panevezys also delivered a dominant performance, defeating Atletas 93-51 on the road. Atletas put up a fight in the first quarter, trailing only 18-22, but a disastrous second quarter, where they were held scoreless and outscored 30-0, put an end to any upset hopes.
Kriste Timofejeva led Panevezys with 24 points, while Urte Bukauskaite scored 13. Agnese Garcinskaitė added 12 points, and Goda Vasurenkaite and Gabija Strolyte each contributed 10 points.
Kateryna Kliuchinikie scored 24 points for Atletas, with Evelina Januseviciute (11 points) being the only other player on her team to score in double figures.
Game 2 of this series will be played in Panevezys on March 23rd.
